Byzantine Orthodox icon – The Circumcision of Christ Painted on wood – 24 x 34 cm

A magnificent Orthodox icon depicting the Circumcision of Christ, a sacred scene from the Eastern Christian tradition. Executed in the classical Byzantine style, the icon features figures with hieratic faces and stylized drapery. The Virgin Mary, holding the Infant Jesus, is surrounded by saints, while the priest, likely Simeon, performs the ritual.

In the lower part, there is Saint Basil the Great (ὁ ἅγιος Βασίλειος), one of the Fathers of the Church, holding the Gospel and wearing his omophorion with a cross.
